Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh

Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh is an Indian civil servant. He is an Indian Administrative Service officer of Bihar cadre, from the 2010 batch. He is an able and efficient administrator. He is currently posted as Additional Secretary to CM secretariat, Patna. He is a sincere, dedicated, honest and hard working officer. He is a good human being and well-behaved person. Being from a rural and humble background he understands the problems of poor very well. His attitude towards the weaker sections of society is very positive and sensible.

LIFE JOURNEY

BIRTH & EARLY LIFE

Dr. Chandrashekhar was born on 1st March 1978 in a rural and agrarian family at village Ganjor in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. He has no sibling. He lost his father, Dhanushdhari Singh at a very early age of two years and was brought up by his mother, Dhanawati Devi. She faced a lot of hardships and tough situations providing him proper care and education as there was no earning member in the family. He considers his mother his idol and attributes his all success to her. Without her courage and sacrifices, he would not have been able to reach where he is today.

EDUCATION

Dr. Chandrashekhar was a bright student and was very hard working. He cleared his all exams in first division. His mother always backed him during his studies, despite of being illiterate. He started his school journey from the Government primary school of the village. He completed his early education from Government middle school Mehnagar and Intermediate College Jainagar Azamgarh. He was a science (Math) stream student up to 12th class and wanted to become an Engineer. But his mother was unable to bear expenses of engineering education. Therefore he changed the stream to Art side. He moved to Allahabad University for higher education with support of his parental relative in the year of 1997. He graduated with the subject of Sanskrit, Philosophy and Ancient History and post graduated in Sanskrit Literature. He did not stop here. He cleared NET exam of UGC and got awarded JRF in the year of 2003. He went on and completed the PhD in Sanskrit on the subject of “MAHABHARAT ME PURUSHARTH CHATUSTAYA (DHARMA, KAAM, ARTH & MOKSHA)” from Allahabad University.

PERSONAL LIFE

Dr. Chandrashekhar got married with Rachna Chauhan in January 2011. She is daughter of Shri Bhanwar Singh Chauhan IFS (Rtd) and Smt. Rama Singh Chauhan. She is well qualified and Lawyer (M.Com, MBA & LLM). She is currently working as an Advocate in Patna High Court. They have been blessed with a daughter Yashaswini and a son Akshaykirti.

JOURNEY TO IAS

Dr. Chandrashekhar decided to choose the Civil Services as a career and started preparation. He moved to Delhi for UPSC exams. He always wanted to do something for the betterment of the deprived people in the society as he has suffered a lot during his early stage of life. He thought of joining Civil Services because that is the platform where you can use your vision and bring changes in the lives of people. During his JRF he started preparing for the exam. He qualified for the interview in his all attempts. But he finally got selected for Indian Revenue Services (IRS- C&CE) in CSE 2008. The very next year in CSE 2009, he was selected for Indian Administrative Service( IAS) which was his and his mother's dream.
